BACKGROUNDER: The LAEDC Mid-Year Forecast Update will focus on our government finance deficit problem. What do the budget issues mean to businesses and residents and how will our fiscal problems impact the ability of state, county, and city governments to deliver their services and grow their economies in the future? What, if any, are the viable solutions to our fiscal woes and what we as a business community can do to lessen the effects of the recession. Our special guests comprising of local and state elected leaders will provide insight on this critically important topic. The Forecast Update will also examine the region’s housing market and outlook for the five-county area along with the national economic outlook. Are there signs of life in the economy? Is housing getting close to the bottom? And which industries have the best near-term prospects for recovery? Our speakers will address these issues and much more during their presentations.
